05/14/2022 04:30 PM - 05/15/2022 01:45 PM PT

Description

This event is offered in person only. Please register in advance to ensure we can accommodate you, as attendance is limited for safety reasons.

For gay men who want to become parents through surrogacy, the MHB educational conferences offer a rare opportunity to get curated information, expert advice and access to a wide range of relevant service providers — and from an unbiased non-profit organization.

MHB returns to San Francisco for its annual Surrogacy Conference & Gay Parenting Expo. Attending the conference requires proof of vaccination, and MHB is implementing extensive COVID-19 protocols to allow you to safely interact and consult with gay dads, experts, and over 35 reputable gay-friendly agencies, clinics, law firms, and other surrogacy providers.

Learn about:

  • The basics: medical, legal and financial aspects of surrogacy
  • Various surrogacy destinations and options
  • The continuing impact of COVID-19 on surrogacy and IVF
  • Insurance & budgeting considerations for surrogacy
  • MHB’s member resources, discounts and financial assistance
  • Accessing benefits from employers

Make the first step towards fatherhood on May 14-15!

On the Friday before the conference (May 13), MHB will once again host the Advocacy & Research Forum, to discuss the social, ethical, legal and empirical aspects of surrogacy and LGBT parenting, followed by a welcome reception from 6:30pm on.

Marines’ Memorial Club & Hotel,

Share your story

We’re looking for stories by or about LGBTQ+ parents/caregivers or prospective parents, as well as the grandparents or adult children of LGBTQ+ headed families.

Generally, we hope your story will not only inform other families on LGBTQ+ family topics, but also let others know that they are not alone in the journey of advocating for our families.

Whether you feel like you’ve arrived, or your story is not yet complete, know that we can keep one another company all along the way. And it always helps to feel a little less alone.

  • How is your family structured?
  • What is your family formation story?
  • Have you faced challenges in forming your family or parenting because of your identity?
  • How were you able to navigate these challenges?
  • What has been the impact on you/your spouse/children?
  • What systems/people helped guide you?
  • What advice would you have for other LGBTQ-headed families – or perhaps just your younger self?
  • How have you or your family dealt with challenges at schools, medical providers, or elsewhere?
  • Were there times when you expected resistance and instead were welcomed?
  • Do you have opinions you’d like to share about current events, or perhaps movies, TV shows, music, or more?
  • Do you have a story about how Our Family Coalition has had an impact on your or your family that you’d like to share?
