VIRTUAL: Know Your Rights Workshop for LGBTQ+ Students and Families in Schools | 5:30-7PM
Description
This event is taking place virtually, online via video conference and by phone. Please register in advance to receive access information. This workshop will not be recorded -- be sure to join us live!
We are in the midst of a historic wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation -- in the past year alone, bills targeting queer and trans youth and adults have been introduced in nearly 40 states, with many specifically targeting LGBTQ+ students in schools. As curriculum censorship and the invasion of student privacy are taking center stage on the national scale, we're beginning to see anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric being repeated here in California in classrooms and at school board meetings across the state.
While California has some of the strongest protections in the country when it comes to LGBTQI+ rights in schools, we want our families to be prepared if -- and when -- similar attacks on LGBTQI+ rights happen in your community. Join the OFC Education Team, Anne and Rick, for 90 minutes of discussion and Q&A. Learn about laws in California that protect our families and how to better advocate for you and your children at school.
