How to Talk to Your Kids about Race: A Tools & Strategies Workshop for Caregivers
When do children begin to notice race? How are racial biases formed? What can parents and caregivers do to support children in healthy and positive racial
learning?
Join OFC in partnership with EmbraceRace in an interactive one-hour workshop on the science of children's racial learning development and the roles, actions, and conversations parents and caregivers can take to support children's racial learning development. EmbraceRace is a national nonprofit organization that helps parents, caregivers, and educators raise children who are thoughtful, informed, and brave about race, especially in the birth through middle school years.
The workshop will be led by Andrea Huang and Christina Rucinski. Andrea is the Community Building and Learning Manager at EmbraceRace, where she oversees and facilitates classes, cohorts, and workshops. Christina is the Senior Research-to-Practice Program Manager, where she translates the newest insights from scientific research on children's racial learning to inform caregiver and educator practices.
