Celebrating 30 Years of Playgroup Families

As part of celebrating 30 years of building community for LGBTQ+ families, we are excited to invite former playgroup families to a special reunion gathering. From 1996 through the early 2010s, LGBTQ+ family playgroups were at the heart of our organization - creating one of the few spaces at the time where queer parents, caregivers, and their young children could come together, build friendships, and find connection.

As children grew older and life naturally became busier, many of those regular connections faded. Now, a couple of decades later, we invite families to reconnect and reunite with the people who may have been a meaningful part of your early parenting or childhood years, while also creating space to meet other LGBTQ+ families who may have been part of playgroups in different years and are now navigating similar life stages.

Join us for a casual, community-centered outdoor kiki at Dolores Park where former playgroup parents and kids, now grown, can reconnect, share memories, and celebrate the role these gatherings played in building LGBTQ+ family community. Whether you stayed in touch with fellow families or lost contact over time, revisit a meaningful chapter of shared history and form new connections with LGBTQ+ families you might be meeting for the first time. 

Bring a picnic blanket and your beautiful queer family - however it looks today - and join us in celebrating 30 years of community as we sunbathe, catch-up, and craft in the grass!
