Lactation Support Focus Group | 1:30pm
Description
Lactation Support Focus Group
What:
In partnership with the California Breastfeeding Coalition, Our Family Coalition (OFC) is hosting a community focus group as part of the CLASP-BC initiative to better understand the experiences, needs, and barriers families face when accessing breastfeeding and lactation support across California. This session will invite participants to share their perspectives on key challenges such as cultural stigma, financial and insurance limitations, access to timely care, and experiences of discrimination particularly among Black, low-income, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities.
Participants will also provide feedback on two developing resources: a statewide, multilingual Lactation Support Directory and the LATCH Line, a warmline designed to connect families with lactation professionals and support services. The discussion will help ensure these tools are culturally responsive, accessible, and truly reflective of the communities they are intended to serve. This is an opportunity to shape solutions, highlight what is already working, and identify what is still needed to improve equitable access to care.
When:
