LGBTQ+ Parents Beyond Biology: Community group for non-biological and non-gestational queer parents

This fall, Our Family Coalition is rebuilding our LGBTQ+ Parents Beyond Biology: Community group for non-biological and non-gestational parents & we're looking for a volunteer Community Host to help welcome and connect parents in this peer-led space. 

As a Community Host, your role isn't to be an expert or have all the answers. It's to help create a warm, welcoming environment where conversations can happen naturally and everyone feels included.

Facilitation experience is  NOT required.

What to expect

• Host one monthly community gathering (approximately 90 minutes).
• Attend a Community Host orientation before the group begins.
• Partner with OFC staff throughout the year.

An OFC staff member will be present at every gathering to handle registration, logistics, technology, and organizational support. You'll never be expected to facilitate alone - we'll provide training, resources, and ongoing support so you can focus on helping build community.

About the Space:

Every LGBTQ+ family is created differently, through adoption, fostering, surrogacy, donor conception, blended families, and every combination in between. For parents who are non-biological and/or non-gestational, that path can come with unique experiences: navigating legal recognition, building bonds in ways others may not understand, responding to assumptions about what makes a "real" parent, and finding your place in systems that often center biology or pregnancy.

This fall, we're bringing back our LGBTQ+ Parents Beyond Biology Community Space, a place for LGBTQ+ parents and caregivers to connect with others who share similar lived experiences.

This is a community-led space, not an expert-led one. Together we'll share stories, celebrate wins, navigate challenges, exchange resources, ask questions, and build meaningful connections with other queer parents. Some gatherings may center around a particular topic, while others may simply offer space for conversation and community. There is no curriculum. Just people coming together to support one another.

We know that "non-biological" and "non-gestational" mean different things to different people, and that each person's experience is shaped by many overlapping  identities, including race, culture, disability, immigration status, faith, socioeconomic background, and family structure. We ask everyone who joins to approach one another with curiosity, respect, and care.

Who this space is for: LGBTQ+ parents and caregivers who identify as non-biological parents, non-gestational parents, or both, across all family structures and paths to parenthood.

When:

Where:

Taking place virtually via secure Zoom phone and video conference -- Participants will receive the Zoom meeting information via email following registration.
