Youth Boating at Lake Merritt
Description
You've seen Lake Merrit from the pedestrian or bike path. Have even more fun cruising around it on the water, by pedal boat! We'll meet up at the Lake Merritt Boating Center at 10:30, receive some safety and boating instructions, and get on the lake soon thereafter. An instructional boater will be in the water to monitor and assist those in the boats; life jackets are included. Bring a picnic lunch and gather together afterward to tell tales of your nautical adventures!
Suggested ages: 8 - 12 years old; however, all are welcome!
Kids: free; adults: $5 (payable at registration); no one turned away for lack of funds.
Lake Merritt Boating Center is located at 568 Bellevue Ave, Oakland.
Parking is available inside Lakeside Park on Bellevue Ave, for $5 all day (weekend rates).
By public transit: from the 19th Street BART station in downtown Oakland, take the 12 or the NL bus to Grand Ave and Perkins Street, and walk 0.3 miles (about 5 min) to the Lake Merrit Boating Center.
We strive to make our programs accessible to all families. Please contact polly@ourfamily.org or call 415-981-1960 for accommodations that would help your family participate in this event to the fullest (e.g. ASL interpreter, childcare for children with learning disabilities, large print materials, gluten-free food options, etc.).
