Online Family Council: Talking about Orlando with our children
Description
Our community is shaken to the core by the violent, hate-based attack that took place at an Orlando LGBTQ nightclub on Latin Night this past Sunday. Many of us are angry and sad, and in addition to our own loss and anxiety, as caregivers we are grappling with what to tell our kids and how to answer their questions.
In times like this it is even more important to connect with a strong community that stands for love and healing. So, we invite you to join us so that we can face this together in a live, online shared space to talk.
We are holding an Online Family Council this Monday, June 20, from 12-12:45pm. This forum will be facilitated by Jessie Rose Cohen, LCSW; an Oakland-based therapist, parent and LGBT community member serving children and families and offering consultation in the areas of grief and trauma, as well as intersectionality with LGBTQ2SII identities.
Email Frida Wahlin at frida@ourfamily.org for information on how to join the Council.
