VIRTUAL: Communication & Connection While Staying Home | 1-2:30pm
Description
This workshop is meeting virtually during shelter-in-place, as part of our Coronavirus curtailment response.
Please register in advance to receive phone and video conference access information.
Our Family Coalition recognizes that stress and emotions can be running high between (co)parents, spouses, and caretakers, etc while sheltering in place amidst COVID19. We invited a skilled facilitator and committed ally, Nancy Kahn, to conduct a workshop especially designed to support the communication and connection between adult members of households who might be struggling while facing greater unknowns in tighter quarters. Nancy Kahn is excited to share space and skills for mediating and negotiating towards greater ease in relationships during this trying time.
Nancy Kahn brings a combination of more than 20 years experience in training, facilitation, coaching, mediation and consulting, locally, nationally and internationally in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Across Differences. She held leadership roles for Bay Area Nonviolent Communication from 2000-2016, and was founder and Executive Director of Mission Dignity, A Youth-led Center College and Career Education Center. She brings decades of leadership, nonprofit management, and program development experience to her training, coaching, facilitation and consulting practice, Across Differences Institute and Consultancy; and is a Partner with Compass Narratives (https://compassnarratives.com/).
In allyship with the LGBTQ+ community, she created and facilitated a yearlong program, Nonviolent Communication (NVC) for Women in Relationship With Women, which ran for two consecutive years; conducted formal mediations across the intersectionality of gender and race for organizations and individuals; collaborated and co-facilitated with colleagues with content expertise in gender sensitivity; consulted with Old Lesbians Organizing for Change; designed and facilitated 7 days of public workshops in San Paulo Brazil for two consecutive years for Ssexbbox's international 14 day Conference to address the needs of the LBGTQ+ community in Brazil and to advocate for the end to violence against trans community; formerly consulted with Diversitybboxx, an international LGBTQ+ consulting firm; and she currently maintains a large private caseload of families that include same sex partnerships, poly, polycules, and more.
